Project – Structure

Networks

SUSTAINET is composed of a German network and three further networks in the pilot regions of India, Kenya / Tanzania and Peru / Bolivia.

The members of the networks are listed on the Members page. The members of the German SUSTAINET network are represented in the SUSTAINET Steering Group.

Steering Group

The SUSTAINET Steering Group is the project's decision-making body. Its composition represents a range of different socio-political groups:

  • The German Council for Sustainable Development, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV) representing the public sector,
  • Deutsche Gesellschaft fr Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH (GTZ - German Technical Cooperation) as a government-owned company,
  • Deutsche Welthungerhilfe (German Agro Action), Misereor and Brot fr die Welt (Bread for the World) from civil society.

Project Secretariat

The Project Secretariat is based at the Deutsche Gesellschaft fr Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH in Eschborn. It provides central coordination of all SUSTAINET activities and measures on behalf of the members of the network. The responsibilities of the Project Secretariat also include organising and running workshops, project and resource planning, and public relations work. The Project Secretariat ensures effective networking between all the partners.

Financing

SUSTAINET is financed substantially by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Deutsche Welthungerhilfe (German Agro Action), Misereor and the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV) support the project with grants for specific activities.
