Project – Goals

The goals of SUSTAINET are to:

  • demonstrate the importance of sustainable agriculture for global food security;
  • scale up promising pilot approaches in sustainable agriculture on a transcontinental basis, to ensure that they no longer remain one-off solutions;
  • engage in political lobbying in order to establish firm foundations and enabling conditions in the national context.

Measures implemented

  • Selection of examples of good practice in sustainable agriculture in the pilot regions (India, East Africa, Latin America);
  • Development of a self-evaluation tool for local organisations / projects;
  • Self-evaluation of the selected pilot projects by the local partners;
  • Writing up of example projects in Writeshops;
  • Publication of "Good Practices" for dissemination in and beyond the three pilot regions;
  • Use of an analysis matrix to assess the scaling up potential of the selected good practices;
  • Exchange of experience and strategy dialogue with key actors based in the partner countries or involved in German and international development cooperation, e.g. with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO);
  • Establishment of local and international communication structures and networks.
