Results – Instrument writeshops
"Writeshops" are intensive workshops in which the participants finish off their
self-evaluations on sustainable agriculture and good practices, discuss them with the
other partners, and document them in book form. In this way, optimum use is made of the participants' expertise and a
high level of identification is achieved with the end product - the publication.
The writeshop itself lasts about ten days. The preparation and follow-up phases of self-evaluation and final editing
take several weeks each.
The method was originally developed at the
International Institute for Rural Reconstruction (IIRR).
A dedicated writeshop was held for each region (India, Kenya/Tanzania and Bolivia/Peru). The "product" of these
writeshops was a three-volume publication entitled "Sustainable Agriculture: a pathway
out of poverty for rural poor",
one volume each being dedicated to India, East Africa and Latin America. The books are organised into the following
chapters:
- Introduction: agriculture, definitions, agreements
- Partners
- Good practices: techniques, advantages, challenges, dissemination, benefits, learning experiences
- Scaling up strategies
- Political analysis: policies, strategies, challenges for agriculture, options
